Project Description

In summer 2011 the National Maritime Museum implemented a major marketing campaign to promote their new Sammy Ofer Wing.

Anna Faherty worked with the Royal Museums Greenwich’s digital media team to develop content for a London-based Foursquare campaign, designed to link major cultural sites to British maritime history.

The project involved substantial content research, as well as the writing of succinct and compelling ‘tips’, which were attached to each of the chosen venues using the Museum’s Foursquare account.

Sample tips:

Battersea Park

Brainchild of ship’s carpenter Thomas Cubitt, the park is built on 750k tons of Surrey Docks mud. The walls include ship ballast stones salvaged from the river at Greenwich.

Sadler's Wells

1804 aqua-drama ‘The Siege of Gibraltar’ featured 117 cannon-firing ships designed by Woolwich Dockyard in a 3ft deep, 90ft long tank filled with water from the nearby wells.
The tips all linked back to a specific landing page on the Royal Museums Greenwich website.
